The St. Bernard Council on Aging has the following rules in regards to proper attire to attend the center and participate in programs and activities offered on a daily basis.
Men must wear shirt and pants/shorts and shoes. Tank tops and undershirts are not acceptable due to health and hygiene issues posed from underarm hair.
Women must wear blouse/top and pants/shorts/skirt or dress and shoes. Housecoats/housedresses are not acceptable, as this is a public building.
No pajamas, nightgowns, robes or slippers are allowed by either men or women.
PERSONAL HYGIENE
To preserve the health and well being of all clients who attend the COA, clients must be clean and free of offensive odors.
If a client has health issues that require special maintenance, such as stomach or bowel disorders or urinary tract infections, the client must be sure to bring extra items to insure that if an accident happens they can change and eliminate any odor their accident may have caused.
If a client is found to have offensive pet odors or pet hairs on them, they will be asked to eliminate the odor/hairs and will not be allowed to attend the center until this has been done. Other clients may have pet allergies that could be triggered by strong pet odors or excessive pet hair carried in by the offending client.
The Director or Assistant Director will handle any and all complaints lodged against any client in regard to dress code or hygiene violations. The client will be allowed to correct the problem and return to the center immediately.
